University of Peshawar

The office bearers of Pashto Academy Quetta and Pakistan Study Centre University of Peshawar agreed to exchange literary delegations in the near future. The decision to this effect was taken in a meeting at Pashto Academy Quetta complex on 17th September 2018.

Prof. Dr. Fakhr-ul-Islam, Director Pakistan Study Centre University of Peshawar represented his centre while Syed Khair Muhammad Arif hosted the meeting. The other participants included Prof. Dr. Usman Tobawal, Director Pakistan Study Centre University of Balochistan, Prof. Dr. Javed Iqbal, Pashto Department University of Balochistan, Prof. Dr. Abdur Rauf Rafiqi and Sultan Zakhpail. It may be noted that both the institutions have signed a MoU a couple of months ago.  Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Fakhr-ul-Islam said that one of the objectives of Pakistan Study Centres is to promote languages of Pakistan and conduct research on them. The signing of MoU with Pashto Academy Quetta is to achieve that objective. Syed Khair Muhammad Arif President Pashto Academy Quetta welcomed the visiting Director and briefed the meeting on the possibility of mutual cooperation. At the end, both sides agreed to exchange literary delegations in the near future.

 

A condolence reference for Dr. Hassan Sohaib Murad, founding Chairman University of Management and Technology was held at Pakistan Study Centre University of Peshawar. He died in a road accident the other day.  Director Prof. Dr. Fakhr-ul-Islam presided over. All the staff of the centre attended the reference. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Fakhr-ul-Islam threw light on the eventful and successful career of the deceased. He said Dr. Hassan was an asset for Pakistan and the Muslim Ummah. His departure has created a huge gap which may take a long time to be filled in, Dr. Fakhar concluded. At the end, the participants offered fateha for the departed soul.

 

To commemorate 6th September as Defence Day,  a function was held at Pakistan Study Centre. Staff members and students attended. Speaking on the occasion, Director PSC Prof Dr Fakhrul Islam paid rich tributes to martyrs and veterans of the 1965 war. He said the Armed Forces of Pakistan gallantly defended their motherland. He said this could be made possible as a result of harmony between the nation and the Armed Forces. During the rally, students chanted slogans in support of Pakistan and its Armed Forces.
